How do i change a degree measure to a radian measure?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

multiply by pi/180

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ex: 30 degrees ----> (30)*(pi/180) = 30pi/180 = pi/6 radians

OpenStudy (nory):

\[45 \times \pi/180 = 45\pi/180 = \pi/4\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the total number of degrees in a circle? \(360^\circ\) What about the total number of radians? \(2\pi\) We can then determine a conversion factor by recognizing these both are equivalent; our conversion factor is then \(\dfrac{2\pi}{360^\circ}=\dfrac\pi{180^\circ}\)

OpenStudy (nory):

That is another example for 45 degrees/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When the answer doesnt go into itself equally do i leave as is? For example 140pi/180

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

reduce as much as possible

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, perfect. :) Thanks guys.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

140/180 = 14/18 = 7/9 so 140pi/180 = 7pi/9
