When citing a YouTube video in MLA format, should you post the "uploader" when the content isn't original? For example, I'm referencing an episode of The Young and the Restless from 1991 uploaded by y&rfan2001. The creator of the work is Bill Bell and his producers and head writers, but to access the material you can only go to this one clip on YouTube. If I say the uploader's name, doesn't that imply creative rights / author?
You don't need the Uploader's info. For MLA, you actually don't need anyone's name. (From Purdue OWL:) This is the typical format for a TV episode: "Episode Title." Series Title. Network. Production Date. Television. For a You Tube clip, replace "Television." with "YouTube. Web. 19 Apr. 2013." (Assuming you watched it today.) e.g. "Episode #209." The Young and the Restless. CBS 27 Mar. 1991. YouTube. Web. 19 Apr. 2013. "The Young and the Restless" and "YouTube" should be italicized.
