Someone please help me!! secxcscx=2cscx

OpenStudy (loser66):

recheck the problem, please, I don't think you post the right one is it sec (x) * csc (x) = 2 csc (x)?

OpenStudy (loser66):

@yeshapatel97 knock, knock

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah it's sec(x)*csc(x)=2 csc(x)

OpenStudy (loser66):

so, the question is solve for x?

OpenStudy (loser66):

or prove?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's to solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets start from the left and work towards the right... answer these: secx = ?? cscx = ??

OpenStudy (loser66):

ah ... sorry, I misunderstood. think it is proving

OpenStudy (loser66):

ok, let dpalnc guides you,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dpaInc there aren't any values for cscx or secx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/sinx=cscx 1/cosx=secx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah that makes sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay that makes sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hang on...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no here's an attachment of the problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because this is not an identity, the instruction must be to solve the equation, is that right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i know it's not an identity, but yeah you have to solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was under the impression that we needed to prove that statement... sorry...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's alright...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok.. let's see if we solve the equation...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bring that right side over to the left side... what u got as a result???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sec(X)csc(x)-2csc(x)=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok.. now factor cscx from that left side... what u got now???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cscx(secx-cscx)=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what happened to te "2" ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try factoring again...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cscx(secx-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok.. thats better... now using the zero product property: cscx = 0 OR secx - 2 = 0 ok so far???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does the first one have a solution???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh oky i know what to do from here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok...:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no the first one doesnt

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct.. that first one does not have a solution... so your solutions must come from secx - 2 = 0,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yw....:)
