OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the slope of the line passing through the points (2, 7) and (–1, 3)? A. 2/7 B. 3/4 C. 4/3 D. 1/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Slope is given as: \[\large Slope = \frac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here : y2 = 3, y1 = 7, x2 = -1 and x1 = 2.. Plug in the values and solve to find slope..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeh this is the form for slope just put and get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I failed algebra....I have no idea what to do with that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have just given the values, just place them and do the simplification.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Give a try at least.. I will help you where you will go wrong.. Just give a try..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll...try, but I;m really bad at math.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just try else leave on us...!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

leave what on who?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

never mind, I'm just going to try the problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hey, you are just talking to me, just plug in the values in place of y2, y1, x2 and x1 there..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooooooooh! I get it now! Okay, thank you. I'm going to try that, and see what I come up with.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure, go ahead..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait, now I'm confused again. I remember learning that y2 is like a simple way of saying y * 2, so if it's y * 2, how does it equal 3? I can't seem to think of a number that equals 3 when timesed by 2...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiplied by 2*

OpenStudy (ash2326):

@msinsaneone15 Please read the posts by @waterineyes again.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See, y2 I mean by it is : \(y_2\)..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is just a variable..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See in more clearer form: \(y_2 = 3\) \(y_1 = 7\) \(x_2 = -1\) \(x_1 = 2\) Now use them..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See you have \(y_2\) in your formula too, just place 3 in place of \(y_2\) there in your formula, and similarly do it for all others..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh! Okay, now I understand. Okay, I was just confused by what you meant by place them. Thank you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Place?? I mean just substitute them or Plug in the values there..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, okay. I can figure it out from there, thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just post the answer after solving it so that I can check it..
