Easy question....lead me through the different kinds of sentences? (ex. compound, compound complex, simple, etc) My CRCT is tomorrow and I totally forgot these sentences!

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

1. A simple sentence, also called an independent clause, contains a subject and a verb and expresses a complete thought. examples : Jim went to the movie. Jim and Tom went to the movie. (even though it contains a compound subject, it is still a simple sentence) Tom went to the movie and ate popcorn. (even though it contains a compound verb, it is still a simple sentence) 2. A compound sentence contains two independent clauses separated by a coordinating conjunction. The coordinating conjunctions are (FANBOY) for, and, nor, but, for, yet. examples : Mary is good at Math and Tina is good at History. (you have two independent clauses separated by a coordinating conjunction) Mike went to the store and Sam stayed home. 3. A compound complex sentence is made up of two independent clause and one or more dependent clauses. examples : Although I like to go camping, I haven't had the time to go lately, and I haven't found anyone to go with. I haven't had the time to go lately - independent clause I haven't found anyone to go with - independent clause Although I like to go camping - dependent clause We decided that the movie was too violent, but our children, who like to watch scary movies, thought we were wrong.
