you first have to square each side to get ride of the squareroot sign. so you know what to do from there?

well then. after you square each side you get \[d^{2}-11=5^{2}\] then you have to add eleven to each side so you now have\[d^{2}=36\] lastly you have yo find the square root of each side to cancel out to get the \[d^{2}\] so your final answer is d=6
