Given a matrix H such that H^2 = 4I, how do I find the eigenvalues to be lambda = +/- 2? Do I just take the square of both sides and have H = 2I where H = lambda*I so lambda = +/- 2? Something doesn't seem right to me here and I would appreciate assistance.
