Part 1: Write an expression for the following real-world situation. If Mr. Jackson earns $1000 for every used car he sells and $2000 for every new car he sells, how much would he make if he sold "u" used cars and "n" new cars? This means he earns 1000u+2000n dollars for all the cars he sells in total. You could simplify this to 1000(u+2n), but depends on whether you have learnt factorising or not. Part 2: Write a real-world situation of your own and a VARIABLE expression to go with it. Write the question you got in part one down but in different words like: Bob goes to the shop and buys some apples and pears, apples cost $3 and pears cost $5, how much would he pay if he bought "a" apples and "p" pears? TOTAL COST ($) = 3a+5p
