What is there to know about absolute values? I am preparing for the ACT exam and I'm totally confused about the stuff I need to know with absolute values.
so all an absolute value does is remove the sign of whatever is in the brackets ie. \[|-a|=a\] or \[|a|=a\]
there are also a few properties but I doubt you will need them for the ACT
Could you please tell me anyways because I got a few questions based on absolute values before and I couldn't answer them.
First of all for solving this question do you know the conception of : Modulus Function.
Nope.
Alright, two things one the properties I am thinking of are the triangle inequality, but I do not recall needing that for the ACT. I would focus more on the meaning of what an absolute value is. 2, If you put the questions you were confused on up, it would allow me to better help you.
Then Madam please read about Modulus function, and i swear you too can solve it on your own.
@goformit100 I think mods may be above Giz's level. The ACT does not cover this concept(it is a placement exam to help people get into college) I know I personally knew nothing of the topic until I took a few college theory courses.
what are the basics that i need to know about absolute value then? =)
Pretty much, just treat it like parentheses then make whatever outcome you get positive. That's it.
