Theory on particle physics: Is it possible for water to form ice as it comes closer to center of something massive, example earth's centre?

@UnkleRhaukus

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

i dont understand your question much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, I ask if water can form ice because of gravity

OpenStudy (anonymous):

very, very big gravity

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as far as i understand density increases as gravity increases.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so atoms gets pushed closer to each other

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

well ice is less dense than water

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i guess it's no then. thanks .

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

i think pressure is going to effect the state of the water more than gravity

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but presure is some sort of prduct of gravity. No gravity - atoms scatter to natural distance one from another as they would be in vacuum.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because there is no force making them to colide with each other.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

i kinda get what your saying

OpenStudy (anonymous):

each it's just theory, i kind of have lots of gaps in it, so i want to make sure whether i understand physics correctly Anyway, I believe that at some state as atoms of water are kept at really small distance one from each other, they should form solid object, right?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

well the extra pressure will heat the water

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so something like nuclear fussion happen?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

that would take an entire plannet of H2O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i guess it's not possible to form ice out of water using gravity force, thanks again.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

yeah, i dont think it is possible. but im not entirely sure.
