I don't have graph paper so can someone show me how to do this without graph paper?? On a school map, the points (-7, -2), (-7, 4), (-1, -2), and (-1, 4) represent the four corners of a sand park. What are the coordinates of the center of the sand park? (-4, 3) (-3, 1) (-3, -3) (-4, 1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks

OpenStudy (amistre64):

find the slope between opposite corners, and create line equations to see where they meet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I would pair one -7 with -1 points? for finding the slope

OpenStudy (amistre64):

or, if you can tell that coords given form a regular rectangle ... find middle of xs and middle of ys

OpenStudy (austinl):

I will leave this in your capable hands @amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if we do a rudimentary placement of the points as such (-7, 4) (-1, 4) (-7, -2) (-1, -2) we can recognize that this is a regular rectangle

OpenStudy (amistre64):

(-7, 4) (-1, 4) halfway between 4 and -2 (-7, -2) halfway between (-1, -2) -7 and -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I just find the rest of the halfway betweens and then I get the middle?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome, and i think your options are miswritten.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope those are my options

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Maybe they made an error

OpenStudy (amistre64):

they are right, i just read something a little off :) process is fine tho

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got -4, 1
