What is the undefined value of the term below

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

factorize the above term

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@nnnnnns please help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 please help!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

factor the numerator to get 3b^2+13b+4 3b^2+b+12b+4 (3b^2+b)+(12b+4) b(3b+1)+(12b+4) b(3b+1)+4(3b+1) I'll let you finish factoring

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait what?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

What I did was multiply 3 and 4 (first coefficient and last term) to get 3*4 = 12 Then I found two numbers that multiply to 12 (the previous result) and add to 13 (middle coefficient) the two numbers are 1 and 12, so you break 13b into 1b+12b or b+12b from there you factor by grouping

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok then what?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

b(3b+1)+4(3b+1) would turn into what when you factor it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, but how do you find the undefined value @jim_thompson5910 ?
