Earth’s continental plates can move as little as 3 centimeters per year. The Quaternary period has lasted for 2 million years. What is the minimum distance in kilometers that a continental plate has moved during the Quaternary period?

Hello:) For this question all you need to do is simple multiply 3 centimeters by 2 million years to get the minimum distance the continental plate has moved during the Quaternary period. But of course you'll have to convert it into kilometers. Does that make any sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So 3 * 2,000,000 = 6,000,000 Now that is 6,000,000 *centimeters* and now you have to convert it into kilometers.

1 kilometer = 100,000 centimeters So, 6,000,000 divided by 100,000 = your answer in kilometers:) and that would be 60 kilometers. I hope I helped! and good luck with your other work:)
