Hi! For a function f(x,y) (there may be a z plane), my textbook says the gradient is the following gradient vector Df(x,y)=[f1(x,y)] [f2(x,y)] 1. why is the gradient a vector and not a number? 2. the notation D. why not f'(x,y)?
