Just look at the original problem statement. You should NEVER get as a possible solution, x = 3 -- ever! In the original problem statement, x = 3 CANNOT be solution. Just look at those denominators.

D is also correct. Without FIRST considering the Domain, extraneous solutions are INTRODUCED. That, in my opinion, is an error. Not everyone agrees. ;-)
