Please help! Medal will be awarded! Can you find the slope of this graph, and explain how you did it?

looks like a slippery slope..... lol sorry never been good with those good luck.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha, me neither. Thank you though.(:

Ok to find the slope of a graph to have to find the last point of each side of the arrow and the formula for the slope is slope = rise divided run or rise/run. Connect the two points you have as a triangle, the rise is the vertical side of the triangle and the run is the horizontal bottom of the triangle. To find the rise and/or run count how ever many little boxes (units) it is long and you've got it! The rise for this graph is 6 square units. The run for this graph is 3. Since slope = rise divided by run, the equation for this graph is 6 divided by 3. 6 divided by 3 = 1/2 so the sope for this graph = 1/2. Do you get it?

-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I do. Thanks a TON!(:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The slope should be negative since the line(from left ot right) is going down.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh I almost forgot if the line goes down from left to right it is a negative, so the slope for this graph would be -1/2 or -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right, that part I knew. Thanks again, both of you!

right
