General workload/time management question, world war ii class - This is a question pertaining to all subjects, but specifically I am in a world war II class right now and feeling overwhelmed with the workload of a subject that is relatively new to me. I would like to have a solid grasp of this course, and usually I do that by previewing the material and putting in extra hours - but right now I am feeling too overwhelmed to barely get the required work done. What are some of your personal methods for thoroughly studying a topic with a heavy workload?

I guess a large part of it depends on the kind of material you're being asked to study. Are you required to write essays or memorize massive lists of dates and battles? Or are you stuck on understanding certain topics from the class? If that's the case, there are always resources outside of class that can help give you a general overview of the material, breaking it down, to make it a little easier to work with. For example, the History Channel has a decent collection of online material touching on the basics of WW2: http://www.history.com/topics/world-war-ii Creating an actual study schedule might also help bring things into perspective and give you a bird's eye view on everything. Sometimes with a lot of stuff happening around you at the same time, it's hard to actually SEE just where the time is going. Writing down your typical activities and habits for a week or even a month can really help plan out things and assess whether certain activities need to go or can be moved around to help you focus on the material. People build out schedules all the time because of how busy life in general can be. It's a good habit to learn.
