find a line parallel to y=2x-9 and a line perpendicular to y=2x-9 show your work. PLEASE HELP ME

OpenStudy (rajee_sam):

\[y = mx + b\] is the slope intercept form of a line

OpenStudy (rajee_sam):

m = slope and b is the y-intercept

OpenStudy (rajee_sam):

For two lines to be parallel their slopes should be the same. Y - intercept can be anything. So write a line equation with same slope and a different y - intercept. For two lines to be perpendicular the product of their slopes should be equal to -1. So from the given line equation you can find the slope for both lines one would be 2 and the othe would be -1/2 . Now write two line equations with these slopes and different y-intercept than -9
