okay, so pretty much we need to find what factors inside 72 are squares themselves. so we can expand 72 to equal 72 = 9 * 4* 2, where 9 is 3^2 and 4 is 2^2. so to take them outside of the radical, we pop out 9 and 4's square root instead of the whole number, so you end up with 3*2*7*sqrt(2) ... or 42*sqrt(2)
