plse can any one solve my sum very urgently needed
"Rana bought 500 shares of HCL at a rate that yielded him 20 % return on a 24%, Rs 350 share. Later on , the company issued a bonus share for every 10 shares held. When the market price was Rs 480 he sold all the shares and invested the proceeds in buying Rs 300 shares of IBM paying a dividend of 27.5%. The yield percent on his investment now was 25%. Find Rana's investment and change in his annual income." Can you clarify what the percentages mean in different contexts?
I'm going to go ahead and shoot some numbers at you, we'll see whether they're useful. 500 shares with 20% return on a share worth 350 Rs which paid dividends of 24%: original income=350*500*.24=42,000*20% return=8,400 Rs annual income. Return means his shares are now worth 350*500*1.20=210,000 Rs as opposed to the original 350*500=175,000 Rs. The bonus shares mean he now has 1.1*500=550 shares, and he sells these at 480 Rs for 480*550=264,000 Rs. He buys 264,000/300= 880 shares of IBM with a dividend of 27.5%, which should be worth 264,000*.275=72,600 Rs annually. If they yield 25% of that, that is 18,150 Rs annually, which is 9,750 Rs more than he was making before. I have no idea whether I interpreted this correctly, but if you can clarify what certain terms mean I'd be happy to rework my calculations.
@Numb3r1 u r right his investment is 210,000 but his annual income is rs. 19800 more
