OpenStudy (karatechopper):
ah..ok. Lets see
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
Does the question you are looking at say, "find the height?"
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
Yea, it wants me to find the height of #2
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
Ok..so I would set it up as a proportion

Lemme draw it out and show ya

OpenStudy (karatechopper):
Okay so we can see that 2 is the height for prism 1
and x is the height for prism two..correct?
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
Correct

So lets set up a proportion!
What are the base lengths for prism 1 and prism two?
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
5 and 5? and just to just out a limb is the answer 5 by any chance?
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
Mmm..Idk. I was going to solve it with you lol.
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
Do you know if both of the prisms have an equal volume?
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
Haha sorry :b When you drew it out I kinda flipped it on its side, yes they have an equal volume

oh!!!!
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
Then I have a much easier way for you to solve it
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
forget proportions! lets make equations!!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
isn't this as simple as
V1 = 2*5*5 = V2 = 1*5*h
so find h from
2*5*5 = 1*5*h
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
Ok..so do you know what the Volume formula is?

OpenStudy (karatechopper):
Yep. @gohangoku58 got to where I was leading to
OpenStudy (anonymous):
volume of prism is just the product of all 3 sides.
OpenStudy (karatechopper):
mhm..
OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):
Thanks KC and gohangoku58 :D I'm going to do the practice questions just to practice it a little more ^_^
