graph the line with slope 2 that passes through the point (4,-5)
What part of this is giving you trouble?
me not knowing the material :/ & strongly dsliking math with a passion.
Ah, but math has answers... as opposed to say Philosophy where some of the 3000 year old questions still don't have answers! In this case, the answer is found through the point-slope formula. Have you seen that one?
And to be honest, to just graph it, you do not even need that. you just need to find a second point from the first.
That is true. How do i find thst? using that formula?
The really important thing is the meaning of the slope. Have you head of them calling slope "rise over run"?
yeah :O
Well, over implies a fraction. So what would 2 be as a fraction?
2/1?
Exactly! So 2/1 is Rise/Run or (Change in Y)/(Change in X)
so its 2/1, then what do I do after ?:o
(4+run,-5+rise)=second point
do I graph that?
Once you have the second point, you draw the two dots, then draw through them, put arrows on to denote it is a line that continues, and generally label the two dots is also desired.
See, much better than Philosophy. You did not work for 3000 years to get just a bit closer to an answer! |dw:1367808912901:dw|
