What is the y-intercept of the function y = 8x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you aware the y-intercept is the point at which the graph of the function given crosses the y-axis???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if that is known, and you also know that on the y-axis, the value of your x-coordinate is zero, then what would your y-coordinate be??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=mx+b. b is the y intercept y=8x is equal to y=8x+0. the y intercept is 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now what if I changed the equation to y=(8.1)x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

still the y intercept is 0 because 8.1 would be the slope not the y intercept

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What about this one? y=2.1(0.15)x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2.1x.15 would still be the slope and the y intercept would still be 0
