The proof by indirect method is shown below. In which step does the contradiction appear? Given: p || r and m∠1 ≠ m∠2 Prove: line p is not || to line q Step 1: Assume p || q Step 2: Since p || r, then m∠3 = m∠1 Step 3: m∠3 = m∠2 Step 4: m∠1 = m∠2 Step 5: line p is not || to line q A. Step 1 B. Step 2 C. Step 3 D. Step 4

which step is contradicting the Given data ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

it is Given that m∠1 ≠ m∠2, do you see at any step we arrive at the opposite of this ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

step 4

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

so at step 4 we arrive at contradiction of whats given, so we stop and holler that we proved the thingy !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol stop & holler! but okay cool i actually got one right!

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

more you do these more you get right :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

any indirect proof goes same way :- we assume opposite of wat we need to prove, and look for a contradiction, when we get one, we stop and say that we proved.

yea when i was trying to do these myself i would google so i would get some type of explanation but hell no it was to confusing!
