OpenStudy (nerdy_3000):

I really need all the help in these problems because I'm overly confused. http://oi42.tinypic.com/15qzx42.jpg

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hint: circumference = distance traveled for 1 rev so if there were 2 revolutions, you would multiply the circumference by 2.

OpenStudy (phi):

can you find the circumference of a circle if you know the circle's diameter ?

OpenStudy (nerdy_3000):

Yes by using the c=pi times D

OpenStudy (phi):

that is the first part to doing these problems. find the circumference if it is not obvious, if you roll a circle (try a can), in one revolution it will move the distance of its circumference. You can do an experiment and see for yourself. measure how far a can rolls after it turns exactly once. then measure the can's circumference. You should get the same number.

OpenStudy (phi):

if you roll it 2 revolutions (turns) it goes twice as far, or 2* length of circumference and it will go 10 times further if you roll it 10 revolutions.

OpenStudy (nerdy_3000):

So basically I find the circumference then multiply it by 2

OpenStudy (nerdy_3000):

Because of the two revolutions

OpenStudy (nerdy_3000):

Can someone help me set up the problems as well

OpenStudy (phi):

So basically I find the circumference then multiply it by 2 Because of the two revolutions yes.

OpenStudy (phi):

? Can someone help me set up the problems as well I don't understand the question. if you mean for this problem. find C= pi * d (replace d with the number they give you) then find 2*C and 10*C

OpenStudy (nerdy_3000):

@ladydeadpool do you understand this

OpenStudy (phi):

what is the circumference of a circle with diameter 36 inches ?

OpenStudy (nerdy_3000):

113.097335

OpenStudy (phi):

now for part (a), multiply that number by 2 for part (b), multiply it by 10 and give the units "inches"

OpenStudy (phi):

that will be the answer for question 14.

OpenStudy (nerdy_3000):

By the way when you multiply by ten you multiply it by the same number you multiplied by 2

OpenStudy (nerdy_3000):
