How do you find the area of a triangle with a radius of 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (nathan917):

Is it a equilateral triangle? or just a triangle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The problem didn't specify that.. It says its a regular polygon, though, if that helps any

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and all the problems the teacher assigned with it were solved using either 30,60,90 triangles or 45,45,90 triangles.

OpenStudy (espex):

Since the radius appears to go from the center of the triangle to its vertices you can assume that it is an equilateral triangle because it will be an equal distance to each corner. Knowing the radius also allows you to create a circle and notice that the triangle is now inscribed within it. Using some trig you will be able to see that you end up with a minor angle and a central angle which then allows you to calculate the length of one of the sides and finally the area.

I haven't learned about that yet.. can you show me how to use that on this particular triangle?
