What is the volume of a rectangular prism with 4 feet in height, length 10 feet and width 1 foot?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

length * width * height 4*10*1 = 40 ft^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the volume formula is length x height x width , the prism has 8 equal sides so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

shizzie is wrong, that calculation stands for a box, you must calculate each face and sum it up.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's surface area. S/he asked for volume

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Volume is the inside contents

OpenStudy (anonymous):

indeed, ill make you a drawing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nvm i got confused, i thought it was a prism.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

triangular prism

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol, I know what I'm talking about and a rectangular prism is a box. Why would you add up anything? It's one constant surface. You are right to have l x w x h but that's it. Only for surface area do you sum up the sides :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem! I wouldn't have answered the triangular prism question lol. That formula is gone...lol
