What is the slope of a line that passes through the point (−1, 1) and is parallel to a line that passes through (3, 6) and (1, −2)? Any explanation on this would be highly appreciated :)

Okay, to find the slope of this line, I'd first plot the points on a coordinate grid (like GeoGebra). Then, I'd plot (-1,1). Measure the slope of the line that you have, and then find a point that would be on a line that passes through (-1,1) that corresponds to that same slope. It's kind of an awkward explanation, but if you know how to find the slope, you should be able to solve for a point, or just use the grid to count up this many/over that many or whatnot.
