What is the focus of the parabola y = 1/8 (x + 2)2 + 4 ?
@sasogeek
I know I messed up earlier somewhere because I got (2, -2) it doesn't seem correct.
@Ashleyisakitty
By focus do you mean the axis of symmetry?
btw, when something in a mathematical equation gets sqaured it used the "^" sign for... for you example it would look like y = 1/8 (x + 2)^2 + 4
anyway, the axis of symmetry is -2, 4. IF that is what you're looking for.
You'll want to put your equation in what purplemath calls "conics form"
@Ashleyisakitty An axis of symmetry is a line, not a point...in this case, it's at x=-2. You found the vertex.
(–2, –2) (–2, 6) (2, –2) (2, 6) These are my answer choices. But wouldn't it need to be minus 4 instead of plus 4 to be 2,-2
I got 2,-2 the first time but idk where I messed up
