Urgent help needed! Question: A{1,2}, B {2,1} and C{1,2,3} Why is A a subset of B, but A is not a proper subset of B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you mean "but A is not a proper subset of C"??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope I meant A is not a proper subset of B. That's the eg stated in my book...so the book's wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am just asking to be sure...

OpenStudy (ajprincess):

Let A={a,b,c} and B={b,a,c}. As u can see the all the elements in B are also in A. So B is a subset of A. Set B contains the exact number of elements that A contains. If it is so then B is not a proper set. For it to be a proper set of A, all the elements in it also should be in A but it shoud not contain the exact number of elements as A. Does that help? @WildSparks
