Why is osmosis important to the human body?Pls help!!><
Without osmosis water can't get in cells, and you'll die :)
What are the uses of osmosis?
Do you know what osmosis is?
I just dont know how to write it in a sentence. sorry:(
Influx/Outflux of H20 inside and outside of the cell depending on the cell's concentration and the concentration of the enviro.?
Do you mean the uses in the body or the uses of osmosis overall?
They used RBCs and plant cells as an example so i dont know how to linked it to the human body
My question says what is the significance are the observations of osmosis in hypo/iso/hypertonic solution as far as the human body is concerned
My teacher says I have to give at least 4 uses of them.So I dont really get what shes saying><
Is it like maintaining the general health of the cells, controlling the release of metabolic waste pdts etc?
okay hypotonic= higher concentration in the cell, the water will go in the cell because with osmose, the water goes to the side of the membrane with the highest concentration. This will cause a turgor pressure in the cell, and that's needed for stability reasons. When the concentration in the cell is too high it will swell up and explode. Hypertonic is higher concentration outside the cell. The water will go outside the cell and it will shrink isotonic is same concentration on both sides. Animal cells need to be in isotonic environment because they have no cell wall. When you place them in hypotonic environment they'll explode and in hypertonic they'll shrivel. Plant cells need to be in hypotonic environment. Because they do have a cell wall they'll build up a turgor pressure and without that the plant will look withered.
health is defenitly one. release of waste is done by osmotic processes in the kidneys so that's one too.
Ok ty so much!I get it now^^
