4. True or false. P(E) + P(Ec) = 1.

OpenStudy (loser66):

true

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u explain it

OpenStudy (loser66):

E and Ec is mutually exclusive. that means, if E happens, then Ec cannot happen so, the possibility of E and possibility of Ec must form that form . I mean P(E )+P(Ec) =1

OpenStudy (loser66):

for example. you have 2 events, you are late for school, and you are NOT late for school. just either of them happens, cannot happen at the same time. got it?

OpenStudy (loser66):

and then if the possibility of lateness is 0.2 then the possibility of NOT late is 0.8 then 0.2 +0.8 =1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok yeah i got that....that broke it down a little better. Thanks

OpenStudy (loser66):

glad to hear that
