quick area question.... photo below....

^^

Guessing you mean perimeter and not area. If two shapes are said to be SIMILAR, that means that they are proportional in size. The triangle with height 1 and base 2 is similar to the triangle with 10 height and 20 base, but not to the triangle with 20 height and 10 base, or any other variation that isn't just a multiple. So we're given one side of the flag is 4 and perimeter 16. given that the corresponding side o the SIMILAR flag is 12. ALL sides of that flag are 3 times longer than the other one. Therefore the perimeter is 3 times more.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what do I multiply ? sorry I'm really bad at math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you would divide the side of one flag and divide it by the corresponding side of the other flag to know what the ratio of size is. or how many times bigger or smaller it is. in this case: 12/4 tells us that the flag is 3 times bigger because it has sides that are 3 times longer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we can simply multiply the perimeter by the multiple by which the other flag is bigger or smaller to get the perimeter of the other flag.

16*3

@Euler271 48 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Euler271 it says it was wrong oops what did we do wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you still there @Euler271 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it should be right. i don't know what's wrong lol.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh well i'll just skip it can you help me again?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay here goes, and this is area..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Euler271 thankyou

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol it's the same question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops sorry forgot to save the other one sillly me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there ya go

OpenStudy (anonymous):

area is (base * height) /2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

30? @Euler271

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it :) thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes :)
