OpenStudy (aaronq):

I'm trying to explain to someone who thinks that earth could be hollow (he hypothesizes that a solid surface would be able to be upkept by centrifugal force of the earth spinning) that if centrifugal force was to keep material at the edge it would not form a sphere but a cylinder, is this logical?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

sorry, i know it's is stupid for me to give him enough credit to even try to refute his point

OpenStudy (compassionate):

We've seen through the Earth using technology. Good game.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

lol well I'm sure he's incorrect. I just wanna know if what i hypothesize is true?

OpenStudy (compassionate):

It would form a cylinder because the object would collapse under it's own force. The force would have to collapse itself so it had a solid middle or else it'll rip apart. So even if it was a cylinder or a sphere, it still needs a solid middle. Also, how does he explain all that lava being created? That's created by pressure. And what about the different levels of strata? Pic related. |dw:1368659527865:dw|
