30 students on a team. 4 chosen randomly. What is the probability it will be bill, Adam, Sam and Mitch?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Assuming no one has the same name on that team and nobody can be picked twice, 1/30 chance it will be Bill, 1/29 chance for Adam, 1/28 chance for Sam, and 1/27 chance for Mitch. You just multiply the probabilities out and there you go.

Thank you

How did Luis get 1/5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not sure i had guessed it to be what you came up with.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think what he did is assume that the person picking these people is picking only people directly next to each other, and not overlapping any possibilities.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually it still doesn't add up, never mind, he was probably thinking something else.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks

But see think about it like this. The chance for those very 4 players to be picked is very low, it couldn't be 1/5 chance.

@Luis_Rivera I don't think you read the question properly...
