Instructions: A cake is put into an oven to bake. The temperature, H, of the cake (in degrees Farenheit) is a function of how long it has been in the oven for t minute. Thus H=f(t).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Question 1: Shetch a graph that represents the relation between t and H. Accurately label the axes. Question 2: Suppose that f'(20)=2. What does this mean in terms of the problem? State your answer in a way that would make sense to someone who know nothing about calculus. Include units. Question 3: Rachel is trying to come up with a formula for this function. She is considering the possible formula f(t)=180(1/2)^t. Based on Rachel's formula calculate f(0). Express your answer correct to two decimal places. Include units with your answer. Question 4:Based on Rachels formula f'(0). Express your answer correct to two decimal places include units. Question 5:Is Rachel's formula a reasonable one for this situation? Explain how you arrived at your conclusion?

@Luigi0210 can youplease help me

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

@smokeydabear come here smartypants, this is your department :P

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Are you given any equations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what I posted is everything that I have

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@satellite73 please help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How are you supposed to sketch the graph before they give you any equations? :s Or is it just supposed to be an approximation of what you think it should look like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is why I am confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@satellite73 can you please help me

@smokeydabear can you please help em I am trying to finsih online homework that I don't get

OpenStudy (mertsj):

5. The point x=a determines a relative maximum for function f if f is continuous at x=a , and the first derivative f' is positive (+) for x<a and negative (-) for x>a . The point x=a determines an absolute maximum for function f if it corresponds to the largest y-value in the range of f .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please help

OpenStudy (mertsj):

That should help with the maximum question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what maximum question

OpenStudy (mertsj):

6. The point x=a determines a relative minimum for function f if f is continuous at x=a , and the first derivative f' is negative (-) for x<a and positive (+) for x>a . The point x=a determines an absolute minimum for function f if it corresponds to the smallest y-value in the range of f .

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Oh. Sorry...this is a completely different question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait I am really confused what number question are you answering

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you please help me with this question @Mertsj

OpenStudy (mertsj):

I am really rusty on this stuff and it would take longer for me to relearn it and then teach it to you than it would take for you to look it up yourself. There are excellent online explanations. Paul's notes is one example.
