Find the slope of the line. A. 1/2 B. -1/2 C. -2 D. 2 (graph in answers)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here's a formula you can use to find the slope:\[\frac{ y _{2}-y _{1} }{ x _{2}-x _{1} }\] where x and y are the (x,y) values of two points on the line.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you identify two points on that line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3 and -3???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not exactly.. a point should be represented in a (x, y) form. the x representing its location on the x axis (horizontal) and the y representing its location on the y axis (vertical)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for example, one of the points would be (-4, -1). can you name another one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(-3, -1.5) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right! now when you plug in your x and y values of those two points, it should look something like this\[\frac{ -1.5-(-1) }{ -3-(-4) }\]can you solve it from there? or at least simplify?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2.5, 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

simplified, it would look something like this:\[\frac{ -0.5 }{ 1 }\] You need to divide -0.5 by 1, that will be your slope.
