Write the slope-intercept form of the equation for the line. A. y = -5/8x + 1/2 B. y = 8/5x - 1/2 C. y = 5/8x + 1/2 D. y = 8/5x + 1/2

use the formula \[m=\frac{ y _{2}-y _{1} }{ x _{2}-x _{1} }\] this is how you will solve for the slope then use the formula \[y-y _{1}=m(x-x _{1})\] to solve for y-intercept which will in the end give you the slope-intercept form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the two points you have are (-4,4) and (4,3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when you solve for it what will the answer be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have absolutely no idea i'm so confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i will show you the steps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we know the formula of solving for the slope, m m=\[m=\frac{ 3-(-2) }{ 4-(-4) }=\frac{ 3+2 }{ 4+4 }=\frac{ 5 }{ 8 }\] that is our slope. You understand how i did that correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok now you put it into the 2nd equation to solve for y-inntercept \[y-(-2)=\frac{ 5 }{ 8 }(x-(-4))=y+2=\frac{ 5 }{ 8 }(x+4)\] then you get \[y+2=\frac{ 5 }{ 8 }x+\frac{ 5 }{ 2 }\rightarrow y=\frac{ 5 }{ 8 }x+\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }\] understand how i did this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah
