please oh please help me!
Locate the infinitive and determine how it is used. James hopes to succeed as a doctor. Infinitive: Use:
the use is either an adjective, adverb, or noun
succeed adverb
yes but how do I understand?? How am I supposed to know?
An infinitive will always began with "TO" To walk, to run, to smile
ok:) now how do I understand the use? Thats like my only trouble..
so what's your answer?
the infinitive is "to succeed"
yes
well, if it's being used to support a verb, it's an adverb. to support a noun makes it an adjective, and I'm not sure how it would ever be a noun, but it's possible
umm.... @Zale101 how do I understand the use??
...
to succeed describes James to do in his future, his hope to be a successful doctor. It also uses future verb "succeed." SO that's why it's considered infinitive.
did i help?
yes:)
Good :)
you tried
.......................
When they told u to mention it's use, u don't need to write a lot, just mention how is it used?
no you have to pick from either an adjective, adverb, or noun lol
well bye!!!!!
Nouns are often who or what? Adjectives answer which? Adverbs answer when where why how?
so it's an adverb because "To Succeed" answers how is James going to be a doctor
