Question to anyone who has taken the MCAT, what type of chemistry questions were on it and what classes helped the most in preparing for the chemistry section? (I realize the "type" of chemistry questions is kind of vague, but any response will help.)

As of right now the chemistry section is composed of two-year long courses: General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry...so yeah, make sure you get those two down...

From what I have seen in the MCAT prep books, I have mainly seen general chemistry and half a year of organic chemistry. All of general. As far as organic, it mainly covers the first portion of it. boiling point, polarity, resonance, dehydration reactions, and the most important ones in the first part of Organic: Sn1, Sn2, E1, E2 reactions. A bit of gringard aromaticity, and reaction kinetics. I have not seen them cover a lot past that. But I think the PCAT exam covers a bit more, goes into bioorganic chemistry and biochemistry. But it's nice to know organic since it's the foundational chemistry for all fields in medicine.

Thank you! I'm planning to take it 2016 which will also be the second year that the new MCAT is put into place, so I won't buy the "official 2015 study guide" until then, but I am generally studying before and will study after I take those classes. Thanks again for pointing out some specific topics.
