Is this correct? 8s+12t=16 6s+9t=12 Solve using Elimination 3(8s+12t=16) = 24s+36t=48 -4(6s+9s=12) = -24s-36t=-48 There is no possible solution because in doing this the s and t cancel out at the same time and there is no way to figure out what s or t may be.

I got help on it earlier, but couldn't remember if this was right

OpenStudy (compassionate):

No. There are infinitely many solutions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. Thank you. I couldn't remember. However; how are there infinitely many solutions?

OpenStudy (compassionate):

When the lines are parrallel they have abolsutley no solutions because they don't intersect... EVER. |dw:1368922482311:dw|

OpenStudy (compassionate):

When they lines intersect at one point they have on solution.|dw:1368922550952:dw|

OpenStudy (compassionate):

When the same lines come out like this: 0 = 0, 9 = 9, 2 = 2, etc. Then both lines run across the same intersect. So there are infintly many solutions. |dw:1368922611857:dw|
