What is the domain of the quadratic function f(x) = 2x2 - 12x + 8? A. [-8 ,infinty sign ) B. (-infinity ,infinity ) C. (-2 , 8) D. (-infitity sign , 8]

PLEASE HELP QUICKLY THANKS:)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the domain of ANY quadratic is ALWAYS the set of all real numbers because you can plug in any real number for x to get some output for y Also, the domain of ANY polynomial is ALWAYS the set of all real numbers because you can plug in any real number for x to get some output for y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh and its 2x^2-12x+8

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so what does that translate to in interval notation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im not sure, I'm only and Algebra 1 honors student

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*im only a

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

well the interval (2, 12) describes the set of numbers between 2 and 12 (not including 2 and 12) something like [2, 12) now includes 2, but still leaves out 12 [2, 12] now includes 12

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so how would we include all real numbers

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

(0,infinity) would be all the positive real numbers (-infinity,0] would be all the negative real numbers and 0 so how would we write all the real numbers, using what I and jim have said.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(-infinity, infinity)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yep you got it _kelenn_
