Which of the following resulted from the leadership of Mao Zedong? China was led into greater isolation. China began to lead in international trade. The Soviet Union provided support to China. Religious freedoms were restored to citizens.
After Mao and his Communists drove the Nationalists from the mainland, a number of things happened and didn't happen. China definitely didn't lead in international trade -- it was still backwards in many ways in comparison to the rest of the world with so much of its workforce dedicated to agrarian pursuits with little industrial or manufacturing power. Religious freedoms were also NOT restored to citizens. If anything, religion was looked down on just as it was in the USSR. So the two answers that actually make a bit of sense are that the Soviets provided support and that China was led into greater isolation. I'd probably go with the isolation answer. The reason why is that the Soviets did provide some support to China early on, but down the road, the two eventually split apart in what is called the Sino-Soviet split. China had one view of Communism that clashed with the Soviet one (Mao didn't believe in co-existing with capitalist nations; he wanted them crushed -- the Soviets were more pragmatic in that regard and sought a more diplomatic approach), so the two went their separate ways. But isolation was a major result of Communist victory in China. It would be decades before they would even slightly open up, and that was under President Nixon in the early 70s. After WW2 and the Communist victory in China, few people had any idea of what life was like over there because no one was really allowed in -- or wanted to go there, at least from the West. It's almost hard to believe that it what China was like back then when you look at them today.
