Hi @doglover1234, I think that the idea behind "scientific knowledge is durable even if it is open to change" is that we build up on existing scientific facts to better understand the scientific part of anything. If we take genes, for instance, we once thought that the sequencing of genes would help us decipher all the problems and metabolism of an organism. The ideology was that one gene would code for something specific and deciphering that particular gene would give us the answer to a particular problem. In some cases it's true but further scientific research led to the conclusion that there are many metabolism, conditions and stuffs which are not under the influence of a single gene but rather multiple genes, sort of a synergy between multiple genes. For instance, lately I read something about 6 genes are involved in migraine. So, there are examples like that on which "scientific knowledge is durable even if it is open to change" is built. The main idea is that advancement in science helps to add up to the existing knowledge. I hope that it helped. :)
