\[\frac{ 5x^2+33x+22 }{ x+6 }\] So here, were trying to find a factor of the numerator that will cancel out the denominator (hopefully)
Do you know howto factor out the numerator?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
5x^2+30x?
OpenStudy (jhannybean):
Not exactly. I am working out the problem myself as I go along with you, one minute! :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Ugh so confusing, I remember doing this 5 years ago :/
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I got 5x+3 with a R of 4

Ohh. are you using long division to solve this?
OpenStudy (jhannybean):
Lets see if i can get the same thing :D Haha
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yeah im using long division
OpenStudy (jhannybean):
Ok I think i see where you're going with this.m
OpenStudy (jhannybean):
You're trying to see which numbers you can MULTIPLY to (x+6) in order to cancel out each term in the numerator

So when you're trying to eliminate 5x^2, you want to see what numbers and variables you can multiply to (x+6) to first equal 5x^2
