OpenStudy (jkristia):

which one do you need help with ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any that you understand ><"

OpenStudy (jkristia):

Sorry, I got interrupted. The first one, what is cos(pi/3) - 1/2

OpenStudy (jkristia):

cos(pi/3) = 1/2, so you replace cos(pi/3) with 1/2, so you get 2 * (1/2)^2 - 1 = 0?? => 2 * (1/4) - 1 = ?

OpenStudy (jkristia):

same for the next one, sin(3pi/2) = sqrt(3)/2, so replace 'sin' with sqrt(3)/2 and see if the statement is true

OpenStudy (jkristia):

If you don't remember the values for the standard angles then I found this image of the unit circle http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=unit+circle&id=CFC5B43EB33E2EEF807DA33D135DA424EA0EC08A&FORM=IQFRBA#view=detail&id=CFC5B43EB33E2EEF807DA33D135DA424EA0EC08A&selectedIndex=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

perfect! That's what it was called... the unit circle!

OpenStudy (jkristia):

yep, very helpful when you have to solve equations involving trig functions

Thank you so much!
