Find the area of the circle if the square has an area of 900 inchs squared. give your answer in terms of pie. ~Diagram here: http://i.imgur.com/Fi4ns2D.png ~

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Because that is a square, the area has a direct relationship to the length of the sides. Do you know how you could use that to find what you need for the area of a circle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not really, sorry.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, think about this for a second. What is the formula for the area of a circle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry schools computer is freezeing and everything, Area is Pie * Rsquared right? new here so no clue how/if you can put the actuall symbols.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Equation editor or LaTeX for \(\pi r^2\) Now, the square touches both ens of the line that goes through the center of the circle. So the side of the square is the diameter of the circle. Does that give you a good enough clue on what you need to find out about the square so that you can bring it to the circle's area formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, it does. Thanks
