Los artistas mexicanos _____ cosas muy bonitas de vidrio usado. A. hizo B. hicimos C. hicieron D. hiciste
okay so in this case it is past tense so hizo is present, hicimos is past but it involves 2 people and hicieron is exactly the same as hicimos but with 2 or more people. Hiciste is past tense but it is singular
Is it D.
Not necessarily, remember that it says above "The Mexican Artists....
Ohhh how do I know if it's 2 or more though?
We need to know how to conjugate the verb "hacer" into the past tense: Here, let me show you all of the different forms of "hacer," in the past tense: (Yo) Hice (Tu) Hiciste (El/Ella/Usted) Hizo (Nosotros) Hicimos (Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes) Hicieron
It would be good for you to memorize that list. Now, let's take a look at the sentence: "Los artistas mexicanos _____ cosas muy bonitas de vidrio usado." ~~~~~~~~~ Can you tell me the subject of the sentence?
Man I need to learn how to teach spanish, I have the knowledge but Im a horrible teacher xD
You told her "hizo" is present tense, which isn't true. You also told her "hicimos" involves two people, which isn't always true.
Yes thats my point, when i speak spanish I do it just fine, but when it comes down to explaining the rules of the grammer I don't do it quite well
@AngelCriner Are you following along here?
Not really @InYourHead and oooh I see @JA1
The subject of the sentence is whoever is doing the action.
Take a look at this example sentence: "I did the homework." The SUBJECT would be "I." The VERB is "did." And who did the homework? "I" did. That's why "I" is the subject. You see?
Is the subject the artists?
Yes!
"Los artistas mexicanos."
did you guys see my answe go down too?
So, we know that "los artistas mexicanos" is the SUBJECT. It is a PLURAL and MASCULINE subject. So, which form of "hacer" should we use?
Just take a look at the list I typed for you earlier.
Still confused... I'm thinking hizo >.<
@JA1 what do you mean? lol
It's not hizo. Let's take a look at the list again: (Yo) Hice (Tu) Hiciste (El/Ella/Usted) Hizo (Nosotros) Hicimos (Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes) Hicieron ~~~~~~~~~~~ You see those words in parentheses? They're all SUBJECTS. YO means I TU means YOU EL means HE ELLA means SHE NOSOTROS means WE ELLOS/ELLAS means THEY ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Since the subject of our sentence was "los artistas mexicanos," which subject from the list would match it?
HICIERON
Why did you choose that??
I'm too impulsive lmao I'm sorry, I really didn't think about it >_< but if the person's saying mexican artists excluding himself wouldn't it be they instead of we?
Right, it would be. Since we're talking about "los artistas mexicanos," we're talking about more than one person. Instead of saying "the mexican artists," we could say "they." It would be the same thing. It matches.
So it is hiceiron?
"Hicieron." Yes.
Yayyyy thank you [:
