You need @RadEn to help you with this problem
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay thanks
OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):
I take it you haven't gone over long division of polynomials yet??
OpenStudy (whpalmer4):
What is the highest power of x that you can multiply by the divisor and not end up with powers greater than those in the dividend?

well I am trying to see if my answer is right. let me put here.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
6x^2+7x+4+(8-38x)/-2x^2+3)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
am i right?
OpenStudy (whpalmer4):
I think the remainder is wrong...
OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):
you got a remainder of 38x?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):
Yeah I believe the remainder is incorrect
OpenStudy (raden):
let's recheck it
{(6x^2+7x+4)(-2x^2+3) + (8-38x)} : (-2x^2+3)
= (-12x^4 - 14x^3 + 10x^2 - 17x + 20) : (-2x^2+3)
that's not like the original before
OpenStudy (raden):
a bit different in term -17x, while ur question incluading a term + 17x
OpenStudy (anonymous):
sry it is 8-4x right
OpenStudy (whpalmer4):
Yes!

Those minus signs cause more trouble...no wonder early mathematicians avoided writing equations in a way that required them :-)
