Write an equation of the line that passes through (-2, -4) and (-4, 2)

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

okay, well you have 2 points...the first thing you should do...is find the slope of the line your 2 points are (-2, -4) and (-4,2) so (-2, -4) and (-4,2) (x1, y1) (x2, y2) use this equation to find slope \[m = \frac{ y2 - y1 }{ x2 - x1 }\] I have labeled them for you...so your slope is...?

-6/2

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

yes....so your slope....you can plug into this equation...along with either one of your points you have (pick your favorite :D) y = mx + b so pick your point...(x,y) and plug those numbers in for x and for y in this equation then plug your slope in for 'm' in this equation...this will solve for 'b' (your y-intercept) what does your equation look like?

y=-3x-10
